My approach to city government is the same as my approach to product: start with what residents actually need, get clear on what "good" looks like, use evidence to choose a direction, and do the unglamorous work of delivering results and explaining tradeoffs plainly.

As a Pflugerville City Council Member, I maintain my campaign site at JonathanForPflugerville.com to share updates, priorities and ways to get involved.

Pflugerville families are paying some of the highest water bills in Central Texas. New development is outpacing infrastructure investment. City decisions are too often made without enough input from the people most affected. Those are the problems I'm in office to work on.

Current Priorities

Lower Utility Bills

Pflugerville's water rate structure hits low-use households, seniors, single adults, and renters the hardest. The fixed charge is too high, there's no lifeline tier, and multifamily is miscategorized as commercial. I've pushed for a full rate study scoped to include affordability scenarios — that RFP is now out.

Housing Affordability & Development Code Reform

Teachers, first responders, seniors, and young families should be able to afford to live in the city they serve. That means more housing types (triplexes, fourplexes, ADUs, cottage courts), reduced minimum lot sizes, and eliminating parking minimums that add cost with no corresponding benefit to residents.

Transparency & Governance

City government should work for residents, not around them. I've filed charter proposals to improve budget transparency (open data formats, fiscal equity impact statements) and to establish a governance framework for surveillance technology and AI use in city operations.

Smart Growth & Economic Development

Pflugerville needs growth east of SH-130 and thoughtful infill west — on our terms. Good jobs, a stronger commercial tax base, and less burden on homeowners. Impact fees and permitting culture need to shift toward enabling the right development quickly.

Disciplined Infrastructure

Every infrastructure commitment should tie to a clear plan for how it's funded, operated, and maintained. Capital planning should be transparent, forecasts should match actuals, and the council should be able to track performance against plan.

Regional Collaboration

Affordability, workforce, and transportation are regional problems. Pflugerville can't solve them in isolation. I want the city to be a constructive partner — including on workforce development and transit coordination with Austin and the broader metro.

Before the Council

I've been involved in Pflugerville civic life for over a decade. Before winning Place 1 in November 2025, I spent three years on the Planning & Zoning Commission (two as Chair), chaired the Capital Improvements Advisory Committee, and contributed to multiple city master plans and strategic documents.

I came into office knowing the details of how the city operates. The vote makes the difference.
